It seems that a new social media platform is popping up every year - or more! What with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope, Vine, and the rest, very few of us keep up with them all.
Being glued to social media certainly has its negatives. However, if you find a platform that resonates with you and adds value to your life, then it can be worth diving into.
Today we wanted to introduce you to one of the newest, video-based social media sites called Blab that's growing in popularity. Then, you can decide for yourself if it's worth trying out while you can still be considered an "early adopter."
What is Blab.im?
Blab.im is a live video broadcasting platform for hosting, watching, and joining conversations.
A cross between a talk show and a webinar, it has been used for casual hang outs, debates, discussions, and workshops. You'll find discussions on anything from business consulting to politics, sports, fashion, or personal development. Anyone can host their own Blab discussion live on the site. It’s also available for anyone to watch, though you need a twitter account to interact in the discussion.
Blab supports 2 - 4 “presenters" at a time, displayed in a grid, sort of like the Brady Bunch intro. Meanwhile, other participants can watch the conversation live on video while adding to the discussion and posing questions via a text-based chat on the side. If the host wants, they can actually pull audience members into the “hot seat” on the live video chat from time to time.
Chats can be recorded and re-watched on Blab, so you can often go back to catch conversations you missed.
